The Brazilian has said that he may well leave Arsenal at the end of this season if he can’t get back into the first team. Arsene Wenger has been playing Mathieu Flamini ahead of Silva this season. The midfielder also lost his Captain’s band to William Gallas and has recieved only 7 starts this season. “I love the club and Arsene Wenger is a good man and a good manager, but there are only two months to go and I haven’t played much. I’m trying to adjust to the situation, but I confess it’s not been easy.”
Silva joined the Gunners from Brazilian Club Atletico Mineiro in 2002 for a transfer fee approximated at €4.5 million. ‘What I like was the fact that he kept things simple. He can play all across the midfield but the holding role just in front of the defense is what he does best.’ said Wenger. In 2005/2006 he signed a new contract with Arsenal which would last until 2009; he played a crucial role in adjusting and developing new players in recent years and helped Arsenal stay stable during Thierry Henry’s departure.
“I will wait until the end of the season and then make my decision, If a good opportunity comes along then I don’t see any other option.”
